Siena Food & Drink Guide (2026): Where to Eat, Drink and Enjoy Coffee

Eating Your Way Through Siena: Restaurants, Cafés & Aperitivo Spots

Siena isn’t just about history and narrow streets. It’s a little paradise for food lovers. From quick panini to traditional Tuscan dishes, the city has options for every budget and every taste.

Traditional Tuscan Cuisine

Taverna di San Giuseppe (€35–65 per person)

One of Siena’s best-known and most beloved restaurants, featuring traditional Tuscan recipes, a warm atmosphere, and an excellent wine list.

If you find yourself here, it’s worth trying the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, one of the region’s most iconic dishes. The quality of the ingredients and the meticulous preparation fully justify the restaurant’s reputation.

Osteria da Divo (€40–70/person)

If you’re looking for a truly unique dining experience in Siena, Osteria da Divo is one of the best options. The restaurant is located in impressive historic cellars, creating an atmosphere you rarely find elsewhere in Tuscany. It has only a few tables, so a reservation is practically a must. You can even contact them via email several days before your visit. Its wine cellar is exceptional, with a wide selection of local wines. Among the dishes we highlighted, the truffle pasta and truffle risotto are ideal choices for truffle lovers. However, the dish that impressed us the most was the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina, which is served in a very generous portion and is one of the best we’ve tasted in Tuscany. For dessert, don’t miss the crème brûlée and the caramelized dessert, two treats that perfectly round out the meal.

Osteria Le Logge (€35–70/person)

One of Siena’s most elegant restaurants, with a particularly well-appointed interior and a beautiful courtyard for the summer months.

If you visit Osteria Le Logge, be sure to try the handmade tortellini, one of the most popular dishes on the menu.

Il Chiostro di Pontignano (€30–60 per person)

Just outside Siena, Il Chiostro di Pontignano is housed in a historic monastery complex that also serves as a hotel. The setting is unique and offers a more peaceful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

An ideal choice if you want to combine good food with one of the most beautiful locations in the area.

Osteria Il Porcellino (25€–50€ per person)

A more relaxed yet authentic option, with a beautiful courtyard and traditional Tuscan flavors.

The Bistecca alla Fiorentina is one of the standout dishes and is worth ordering if you want to try one of the most characteristic local dishes.

Il Bargello (€20–35 per person)

A small, welcoming osteria in the historic center of Siena, with an extensive wine list and authentic Tuscan flavors.

Of all the dishes we tried, the one that stood out the most was the pasta with pistachio pesto. It was an unexpected but incredibly delicious choice and one of the most delightful culinary surprises of our trip.

Fast food & street food

If you’re looking for something quick but tasty, you’ll find plenty of options for street food and fast food around the center of Siena. Schiacciata sandwiches are one of the region’s most iconic dishes, featuring fluffy, freshly baked bread stuffed with prosciutto, cheeses, and local cured meats.
